A Busy Day Along The Verde Valley Wine Trail

10/31/2015

Yesterday was quite a busy day in wine country for me, the guide and owner of Wine Tours of Sedona. Our new Xola online booking engine is almost working too good. For after an am meeting regarding some upcoming advertising that we are going to be doing, I checked me inbox only to discover that there was a tour booked yesterday that was due to start in 15 minutes, and within minutes of this discovery, I receive a call from the clients to let us know that they would be running a bit late.

After multiple phone calls, I figure out how to accommodate the reservation and get them set up on our "Wine Your Way": 3 Hour Custom Wine Sampling Experience. After picking the guests up who are here visiting for the Tool concert in Phoenix, we head to ChocolaTree where they get some chocolates to enjoy with some of the red wines that they will be sampling later in the day. From there we head over to Oak Creek Vineyard where they find several unique wines that meet their fancy. Our next stop is Arizona Stronghold in Old Town Cottonwood where they enjoy more great wines and a delicious BBQ'd snack to pair with their combo flight. Then it's back to Sedona so they can enjoy the rest of their day in northern Arizona.

From their drop-off, I head back to the office to do some paperwork, answer some calls and prepare for my afternoon tour.

Then, it's back on the wine trail. This time my guests are on our "Wine Your Way": Connoisseur's Wine Experience. From their pickup at the Sedona Summit (we offer complimentary pickup at all local resorts), their tour leads them to Lulu's Chocolate Lounge, The Art of Wine, Wild Rose Tea House, Verde Valley Olive Oil Traders, Pillsbury Winery, and Desert Diamond Distillery. At that point they are ready to relax before going to dinner at Dahl & DiLuca where I had made them dinner reservations while on their tour.

People often ask me what I like about my job. There are so many ways I can answer this. I love how every day is different, and every tour is different. I love meeting new people. I love sharing the beauty of northern Arizona with others. I love supporting other local small businesses like my own. My job is very satisfying and brings me immense gratitude every day.

Buddha once said, "Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful." I firmly believe this, for I love what I do, and doing that brings me great joy.
